Centennial Banner at the Plains Museum
in the Old Courthouse

 


Booths were set up all around the Old Courthouse grounds.   Entertainment was at a stage set among the trees.

 

An original historical play, written for the Yoakum County Centennial by Connie Webb,
was performed by over 70 cast members from the county.
The 3 performances played to a full house each time with a standing ovation for those
who produced and performed in the presentation of  "Making Ice Cream When it Hails".

Watermelon Roundup
Held the first Saturday of September each year,
was Observed in 2007 in Conjunction with
Yoakum County's 100th Celebration.

Part of Cowboy Way, the main street through Plains, was roped off for pedestrians only.
Vendor and Food Booths filled the grounds of the Old Courthouse.  Contests were
held such as the Watermelon Run, Seed Spitting and  Horseshoe Pitching.
